Currently in the waiting room at the local APR dealer while my car gets the free 6 hour trial of their 215hp/247lb*ft tune for my 1.8t GTI. To say I'm excited would be an understatement.

wait...they do trial tunes? what happens after 6 hours? does it stop running, or run poorly? or do they just use the honor system?

They will hunt you down like a dog.

Any one of their tunes is eligible for a 6 hour trial. You drop by, they install the software, and after 6 hours of driving time, your ECU automatically reverts to stock.

Once you chip VAG turbo 4 cylinder, there is no turning back. You'll live it.
I highly recommend replacing your diverter valve though, if you do buy the tune. I recommend the 710N (stock equipment on the K04 equipped TT's)

From what I've heard, mine should already have the 710N. I'd have to check again to be sure. And yeah, I'm actually kinda worried about having to go back, because I definitely can't afford to buy the tune right now :p

Question can are there "chip" tunes for the TDI?

Yes, but not through APR (that I know of). If anything,I think they're more popular with the TDI guys.

I've got it on my MK4. 1st gear is just for show now.

Mine was acting that way at first, but once I got some heat in the tires it managed to just barely hold on.
